Terms

What you get, what it costs, and who is responsible for what.

Written in plain English on purpose. If a clause here would surprise you after a month of using the product, it is written wrong and we want to hear about it.

01

The agreement

Between you, as the merchant, and us.

These terms cover your use of Zinx Signal, operated by Zinx. Creating an account or installing the app on a Shopify store means you accept them.

You must be authorised to act for the store you connect. If you are an agency connecting a client’s store, you confirm you have their permission — we have no way to check, and it is the one thing here we are relying on you for.

02

What the service does

Splits traffic, applies a variant, attributes revenue. It does not decide anything for you.

Zinx Signal runs A/B tests on a Shopify storefront and reports the result in revenue. It does that by loading a small script on your storefront and a Shopify web pixel at your checkout.

The results are measurements, not advice. Any business decision taken from them is yours. Statistics describe how likely something is, not what is true, and an experiment can report a winner that does not hold — that is a property of the method, not a defect in the product.

How it works sets out the mechanism and its known limitations. Those limitations are part of these terms by reference, not fine print we hope you skip.

03

Your account

You control access to your workspace, and you are answerable for what happens in it.

  • Keep your sign-in secure. Anyone with access to your Google account has access to your workspace.
  • Members you invite act on your behalf. Removing someone is immediate, and it is your job to do it.
  • You are responsible for any code you put into a test. Custom CSS and JavaScript run on your storefront, under your name, and we wrap them so they cannot block the page — but we cannot make them correct.
  • Do not use the service to run anything unlawful, to test deceptive pricing or claims, or to load code that collects data your own privacy policy does not disclose.

Plans, billing and the trial

Billed through Shopify, monthly, on visitors who entered a test.

The trial
14 days and 150,000 tested visitors, whichever comes first. No card, and no charge if you never subscribe.
Subscribing early
Any unused trial days are handed to Shopify as trial days on the subscription, so deciding early never costs you the rest of the trial.
How you pay
Through Shopify's billing, on your existing Shopify invoice. We never see your card. Prices are in USD and exclude any tax Shopify adds.
What is counted
A visitor who was bucketed into at least one running experiment during the billing period. Someone in three experiments at once counts once. Someone who never saw a test is never counted.
Going over
We tell you before the allowance runs out and again when it does. Tests keep running; we will not silently stop measuring and leave you with a half-finished experiment.
Changing plan
Upgrade or downgrade at any time. Shopify prorates the change on its own terms.
Cancelling
Uninstall the app or cancel from Shopify. Billing stops at the end of the current period; there are no cancellation fees and no notice period.

Refunds. Charges already made are not routinely refunded, because the service was delivered. If something on our side stopped a test from running for a meaningful part of a period, write to us — that is a case we would rather settle than argue.

We may change prices with 30 days’ notice by email. An existing subscription keeps its price until you change plan.

05

Availability

No uptime guarantee, and a design that makes an outage harmless to shoppers.

We do not offer a contractual uptime guarantee. What we do offer is worth more in practice: if our backend is unreachable, the script on your storefront fails open. The page reveals, the shopper sees your control version, and nothing about the store breaks. The cost of an outage is lost measurement, not lost sales.

The product is in beta, which is stated in the header rather than buried here. Features may change, and we will not remove one you depend on without telling you first.

06

Your data, and ours

You own your data. We own the software.

Your experiments, configuration and results are yours. You may export them, and we will not use them for anything except running the service for you — not to benchmark other stores, not to train a model.

The software, its interface and its documentation are ours. Using the service does not transfer any of that, and you may not copy, resell or reverse-engineer it.

Data handling is set out in full in our privacy policy. Where you are the controller of shopper data and we are your processor, that policy sets out the terms of the processing.

07

Liability

The part every set of terms has. Ours is capped at what you paid us.

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or losses arising from a decision you took on the strength of a result.

Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot be limited by law.

08

Ending it

You can leave whenever you like. We would need a reason.

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the app. When Shopify tells us the app was removed, everything we hold for that store is erased 48 hours later.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used unlawfully, that is damaging the service for others, or that has an unpaid balance. Except where the law requires otherwise, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

09

Changes and contact

Material changes get an email, 30 days ahead.

If these terms change materially, account holders get an email 30 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.

Anything unclear, anything you disagree with: [email protected].
